We need an economy that works for everybody
People deserve access to housing they can afford. Everybody should be able to obtain a job that pays a good, living wage. We all deserve a dignified retirement.
As Treasurer, I will work to advance policies and programs that improve the economic well-being of Coloradans.
We need well funded public schools
We need well funded public schools. I will use the tools of the Treasurer’s office to support true public education. I will work to get more out of the Public-School Permanent Fund to benefit K-12 education. I strongly oppose voucher programs for private schools.
We need strong unions
We need strong unions. I stand with union workers. I believe in better rights for workers to organize and collectively bargain. I support enactment of the Colorado Workers Protection Act.
We need Public Banking
We need Public Banking. Big Wall Street banks are too
powerful. We should establish a Colorado Public Bank to deposit our public funds. This will benefit local needs like affordable housing, community economic development, and small business lending.
We need to protect retirements
We need to safeguard retirements. The State Treasurer is a member of the PERA Board, the public employees retirement fund. As Treasurer, I will work hard to ensure that PERA becomes fully funded with a safe and secure investment strategy. Our public school educators and public employees deserve the retirement that they have earned.
We need to repeal TABOR
We need to tackle TABOR because it is warping state finances and quite frankly has become a shield for some of the wealthiest Coloradans to avoid paying their fair share. I support efforts to advance a ballot measure to establish a graduated income tax in Colorado.
Experience Matters
I am a 20+ year Army Veteran with an economics degree and an MBA in finance. I had a career in business consulting helping major companies improve their processes. I have served as a Democratic Party Precinct Organizer and County Party Chair working hard to help elect local Democrats. I will bring my management experience and Democratic values to the job of State Treasurer.
